Some of my favourite skincare products come from Burt’s Bees, especially their Ginger Spice lip balm so I was super excited when I found out they were releasing their own lipstick range!
The range includes 18 shades, including nudes, pinks & corals, reds, plums and berries. Burt’s Bees don’t test on animals but some products contain animal sourced products so can’t be classed as Vegan. These lipsticks have a satin finish & claim to moisturise the lips for up to 8 hours. *I was lucky enough to be sent these by the brand*
The shades I chose to try was Ruby Ripple (red) & Juniper Water (purple). The packaging has to be my favourite thing about the products. I love how they show the colours of the lipstick through the honeycomb package and the fact that they’re square. They feel lovely in the hand! One disappointment is with my red lipstick. It doesn’t fully rotate back into the tube so I’m always terrified of snagging it when opening it up.
Formula wise, they are incredibly moisturising and definitely live up to their claim. These are the most moisturising lipsticks I own. As regarding staying power and pigmentation, I am left a little disappointed. I am a matte lipstick girl at heart because with cream lipsticks they don’t last more than a cup of coffee. Unfortunately these aren’t much different, they do last a little longer than normal, I managed to eat a little something and have coffee before having to top up but that’s just a general annoyance for me when it comes to cream lipsticks.
Here are the lip swatches. Please don’t kill me for my application, I really do suck at using lipsticks straight from the bullet. As you can see from the pictures, the pigmentation isn’t as good as other lipsticks I own. These lip swatches consisted of multiple layers and building up, it doesn’t give the wow factor a bold lipstick should for me.
They would be nice for people wanting to rock a bold lip but in a less obvious way but I like mine to properly pop!
Overall I love the moisture these give and it’s the perfect formula for all year round. But I do love a good bold lip and these don’t give me the pigmentation I want! I think i’ll use these for when I want to wear lipstick but have dry lips, I don’t think I’ll be picking these up on a daily basis.
Thanks so much for reading!
