Derma Rollers At Home, They Aren’t For Me.

At the minute, it seems like you can’t scroll through social media without seeing a derma roller video or picture. These claim to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and even skin out.I’ve been wanting to try one out for a while but I’ve always been a little scared as I’ve read only professionals should be using it, can’t properly sanitize it at home etc and that kept me at bay. Until I got an opportunity to try one from Swiss Clinic and just bit the bullet and went for it.

I received their skin renewal pack which retails for £99 but currently on offer for £84. This contains their skin roller and Rejuvenating Serum. The Sanitizing spray isn’t included but I highly recommend you get this (or anything with a good amount of alcohol in like 99.1%).

The first and most important part in this kit is the skin roller. This contains 540 stainless steel micro-needles. Sounds scary but doesn’t hurt (until after at least). This makes the skin absorb 300% more of the Rejuvenating Serum than normal. Next is obviously the serum which Stimulates the body’s white blood cells in the immune system and promotes new skin.

Now, does it hurt and does it work? It hurts yes. The procedure itself doesn’t but afterwards it felt like my skin was sunburnt and hurt like hell. It went bright red (especially on my cheek bones which is where I’m most sensitive) and genuinely looked like I had a reaction. Does it work? I’ve only been able to use it for 2 days so I don’t know. I can’t carry on using it. I’ve kept with my normal skincare routine as you all know I have the driest skin possible (they didn’t specify on using other skincare whilst using this product) and couldn’t afford to not use my normal products. Well after 2 sessions of this I have the driest skin. Not even a little, it almost feels scaly. This sort of dry skin for me takes a good few weeks to a month to get back to normal so I’m a little pissed about it to say the least.

I’ve read other bloggers reviews and I couldn’t find one negative review so maybe its just my skin type that doesn’t agree but for me it’s a miss and has done more harm than good.

From my personal experience I wouldn’t recommend trying this but I do understand that everybody has different skin types so might work for others.

These are available online from Swiss Clinic (link here)

Has anybody else tried Derma Rollers? What was your experience?

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Thanks for this post. I’ve been interested in this since I saw people using them. There’s no way I’m going to try one out. Your results are exactly what I imagined they would be. I am NOT into poking a billion little holes into my skin so it absorbs something more. no ma’am. Have you seen the nurse jamie uplift wand? It’s at the top of my wishlist – it’s like $65 or so, but it’s a tourmaline and something roller wand (no needles) that everyone swears helps improve your skin. Basically it’s a little face massager.

  2. Oh dear that sounds awful. That’s definitely always been my fear though- I feel like it opens up your pores and skin to absorb your next step to the point that your skin can’t control. I just think it’s a bit too much. Glad to read this because I’m definitely not going to try it now haha xoxo

      1. the brand is imho giving bad advice, the needles looks very small, I think all they are doing is roughing up your skin so you absorb more serum. I use 1mm needles which do penetrate deeper, but they do serve collagen induction better. Post care is super important. If I were to dermaroll on 2 consecutive days I would have terrible skin. Sugarpuffandfluff on youtube was my first useful resource

      2. Thanks for all the info darlin, I really appreciate it! May give it another go using it once a week but my skin really didn’t like it after the first go haha. Thanks for all your help! ❤️💋

    1. I imagine the outcome would make it all worth it but I won’t be touching it again. It’s always a little scary when they bring out products for home that originally was meant for professionals. This is where the Sukin face scrub came in handy haha, I need something to help with my skin! Xxx
